TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yehezkiel 26:20

Konteks
26:20 then I will bring you down to bygone people, 1  to be with those who descend to the pit. I will make you live in the lower parts of the earth, among 2  the primeval ruins, with those who descend to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited or stand 3  in the land of the living.

Yehezkiel 31:14

Konteks
31:14 For this reason no watered trees will grow so tall; their tops will not reach into the clouds, nor will the well-watered ones grow that high. 4  For all of them have been appointed to die in the lower parts of the earth; 5  they will be among mere mortals, 6  with those who descend to the pit.

Yehezkiel 31:16

Konteks
31:16 I made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I threw it down to Sheol, along with those who descend to the pit. 7  Then all the trees of Eden, the choicest and the best of Lebanon, all that were well-watered, were comforted in the earth below.

Mikha 1:8

Konteks

1:8 For this reason I 8  will mourn and wail;

I will walk around barefoot 9  and without my outer garments. 10

I will howl 11  like a wild dog, 12

and screech 13  like an owl. 14

[26:20]  1 tn Heb “to the people of antiquity.”

[26:20]  2 tn Heb “like.” The translation assumes an emendation of the preposition כְּ (kÿ, “like”), to בְּ (bÿ, “in, among”).

[26:20]  3 tn Heb “and I will place beauty.” This reading makes little sense; many, following the lead of the LXX, emend the text to read “nor will you stand” with the negative particle before the preceding verb understood by ellipsis; see L. C. Allen, Ezekiel (WBC), 2:73. D. I. Block (Ezekiel [NICOT], 2:47) offers another alternative, taking the apparent first person verb form as an archaic second feminine form and translating “nor radiate splendor.”

[31:14]  4 tn Heb “and they will not stand to them in their height, all the drinkers of water.”

[31:14]  5 tn Heb “for death, to the lower earth.”

[31:14]  6 tn Heb “the sons of men.”

[31:16]  7 sn For the expression “going down to the pit,” see Ezek 26:20; 32:18, 24, 29.

[1:8]  8 tn The prophet is probably the speaker here.

[1:8]  9 tn Or “stripped.” The precise meaning of this Hebrew word is unclear. It may refer to walking barefoot (see 2 Sam 15:30) or to partially stripping oneself (see Job 12:17-19).

[1:8]  10 tn Heb “naked.” This probably does not refer to complete nudity, but to stripping off one’s outer garments as an outward sign of the destitution felt by the mourner.

[1:8]  11 tn Heb “I will make lamentation.”

[1:8]  12 tn Or “a jackal”; CEV “howling wolves.”

[1:8]  13 tn Heb “[make] a mourning.”

[1:8]  14 tn Or perhaps “ostrich” (cf. ASV, NAB, NASB, NRSV, NLT).
